St Anton | St Anton, Kitzbuhel & Mayrhofen | Why are these 3 Austrian resorts so child friendly

With this winter season now wrapped up, thoughts are turning to where to book for your family ski holiday in winter 17/18. Here are just some of the reason to book at one of the resorts we run in...

This week.....

St Anton

Aside from Alpine Angels childcare offering friendly yet professional nannies in St Anton, there are a wealth of other reasons for you to consider this family friendly ski resort for your next winter getaway.

Let’s start with the obvious. Skiing! St Anton offers some very child friendly options when it comes to children, whether they are beginners or experts. It was given a 5/5 rating for families by skiresort.info, the world’s largest test portal for ski resorts – www.skiresort.info. There are plenty of runs that cater for children including the funslopes at both Galzig and Nasserein and now with the addition of the new flexibahn from winter 16/17, other areas of the Arlberg are much more accessible including Lech and Zurs which both offer practice slopes and baby lifts. The Kinderwelt (childrensworld) in St Anton (there is one at Galzig, Nasserein & St Christoph) is run by the Skischule Arlberg, the largest skischool in the Arlberg region, and will take children for lessons from 3 years old. If you are looking for a more personal touch with your choice of ski lessons take a look at the smaller ski school Alpine Faszination that also offer both private and group lessons for children and adults. Don’t forget Alpine Angels Childcare can drop off and pick your children up from ski lessons and take them back to your accommodation!

So what else is there to do in around St Anton with children? The answer is plenty! Depending on the weather there are lots of activities to be enjoyed both inside and outside. The Arl.rock sports centre offers exciting activities for children, age dependant, such as a bowling alley, rock climbing, tennis courts and games room. Have a look at their website for further details. The Skiing Buddha restaurant inside also does the best Thai food in town!

Further indoor fun can be had in the swimming pool at Arlberg-well in St Anton as well as the Wellness park in Pettneu which is a short drive from St Anton, accessible by bus and car. Also at the Arlberg-well is an outdoor skating rink which is open from December until around mid march.

As well as ice-skating, there are many other outdoor activity options for either yourself, or one of Alpine Angels nannies, to do with your children. One of the most fun outdoor activities, one our favourites, is the toboggan trail! This is a 4.3km run which is open throughout the day and also 2 evenings a week if you fancy trying it in the dark (don’t worry there are lights to show you the way!). Sledges can also be hired from the sports shops around town to take the children along the winter hiking paths such as Kunstmeile, a short 1km from Arlberg-well to the Nasserein lift, or Verwall which is a longer walk (10km) to a beautiful lake in the middle of the forest complete with a children’s playground. A further children’s playground can be found near the Arlberg-well also. If you don’t fancy pulling the children on a sledge why not take a horse drawn sleigh ride with the family into the Verwall valley as an alternative?

If all that doesn’t tire them out then there is a ski show every Wednesday evening complete with light shows and fireworks (as well as Gluwein and beer for the adults!), or if the children are too tired then book a nanny with our evening babysitting service so you don’t miss out!
